Visitors say they appreciate our careful redesign of the house's traditional bungalow interior. We've preserved the window space and built-in cabinetry of the Midwest bungalow style while adding 21st century functionality, including computer areas and additional bathrooms and sleeping areas. Our guests often cite the sunny kitchen as their favorite space, though the comfortable living and dining rooms are also favorites. Most appreciate the rejuvenating quiet of our bedrooms in the evenings and the refreshing breezes that waft through their windows at night.

Journey's End was built in the Midwestern bungalow style of the early 1900s, a style that notably maximized window space to admit sunlight and fresh air, both plentiful in the mountains of southern West Virginia. The home is finished in bright and traditional white-painted clapboard and is surrounded by a comfortable shady property, suitable for small gatherings and including a small patio-pavilion and grill. A driveway that can accommodate two standard cars or trucks is immediately adjacent to the house, while on-street parking is available in front of the house on Stanhope Court. The Beckley Rail-Trail, Raleigh County Public Library, and Beckley Courthouse National Historic District are all within a walk of a few minutes from the door.

The New River Gorge is only one of three areas of local wilderness preserved by the National Park Service. The canyons of the Gauley River, to the north, and Bluestone River, to the south likewise protect thousands of acres in southern West Virginia. Many guests are rafters touring the whitewater of the New and Gauley and skiers and snowboarders lodging at Winterplace Ski Resort in the winter months. Major attractions near Journey's End include the Grandview natural area, the Tamarack arts and convention center, and the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine at New River Park.
